Two chairs
matched, married
trashed teak treasures
waiting to be graced
Two chairs
Honey! look what I found!
my beauty, my wife
she smiles
Two chairs
in nestling proximity
to smiling blooms
witnesses to laughter, joy, tears
Two chairs
jauntily askew, quietly smiling at derring-do
children’s games, spilled champagne
they don’t mind
Two chairs
seats of grief
a telegram, a death – holding, comforting
if polished teak could cry
Two chairs
empty
abandoned
in dewy gloaming
Two lives entwined
once white satin
now two grassy beds
on the hillcrest

You gently prodded me to expand that micro…and I simply had to. Thanks so much, my friend, for your encouragement and inspiration…always.

Wonderful images, wonderfully put into perfect words! Thank you for sharing them!! I’d love to see the inspiring piece, too.
I hope you’re enjoying the last few days of this intense year…
Warmest regards from Italy!
Guido! Thank you so much for the read and lovely comment on Two Chairs. Because of my ineptitude of tehnical matters, I was unable to reproduce the photo link. But if you go to @marousia’s timeline, I’m sure it’s there. So sorry! I wish the holidays were over, frankly. I dislike the commercialism and the crowds…to say nothing of forced gaiety. Love X-mas with all the color, music, however. I do wish you a healthful and prosperous 2012, Guido! Always enjoy hearing from you.

What a lovely poem, Jackie! Where can one view this image of Marousia?
That was my question and curiosity, too, Quirina!! :O) Marousia is on WordPress, but I have not been able to find the inspiring photo – yet …
Am trying to get link now and will try to edit into blog. Will let you know if I succeed. Thanks, Guido!
Thank you, Q for your read and nice comment. Because of my technical ineptitude, I was unable to reproduce the link for the photo. So Sorry, but I’m sure it’s in Marousia’s timeline.

Lovely! I often wonder what memories old things (or trees) might wear, what they have seen …

Jackie, you’ve done a great job weaving a tale out of that (very tempting) photo….marvellous!
Thanks so much, Louise…I enjoyed weaving that one…The photo is very inspirational to me. Gratitude for the read and comment! Cheers!
Hi Jackie, I love the life these chairs have led and I love the way there are fewer words around the solemnity of death and the dewy gloaming, like the chairs don’t have the words to describe – very nice poem
That’s a very sensitive read and comment, Steve. Much appreciated! Cheers!
Now that’s a fascinating method…I’d describe it as personifying the chairs, yet the methodology in which you do so develops more through the scene around the chairs than the chairs themselves. And well done, at that! Splendid image.
Chris! Chairs, rooms, homes, to me, have histories, character, reflections of the people around them…and yes the scenes around them lend to their character. Thanks so much for your sensitive read and comment.
Lovely poem, Jackie.
Thanks so much for your read an supportive comment!
I really like how you brought so many moments to life from just two chairs. So many situations and memories. nicely done!

Hi, Kellie! Thanks much for your read and lovely comment!
Jackie,
Very satisfying poem. You’re very imaginative in giving a kind of biography to the chairs that speaks to the life of the people involved. I enjoyed this.
Hi, Steve! Happy you enjoyed this. I like to anthropomorphize household objects that reflect ppl. and thir experiences and emotions. Thanks much for the read and lovely comment. Will look into your submission later after a snooze..Excelsior!
